Symptoms of duodenal cancer
Abdominal pain: Patients often feel upper abdominal discomfort, mostly dull pain. Unlike general stomach pain, the pain does not get relieved after eating, and sometimes the pain radiates to the back. This is due to the tumor stimulating the duodenum and peripheral nerves.
Abnormal digestive function: Affected by the tumor, the patient's digestive function is disordered, and there will be anorexia, lack of interest in food, and a significant reduction in eating. At the same time, nausea and vomiting are also common, and in severe cases, it can affect the patient's normal eating and nutrient intake.
Gastrointestinal bleeding: Duodenal cancer is prone to gastrointestinal bleeding, mostly long-term, small-scale chronic bleeding or intermittent bleeding. In daily life, this bleeding manifests as occult blood in the stool, which can be detected by a fecal occult blood test; when the amount of bleeding is slightly larger, black stool will appear, that is, the stool color becomes black, shiny, and tarry.
Systemic symptoms: As the disease progresses, the patient's weight will show a progressive decrease. This is because the tumor consumes the body's nutrients and the patient's digestion and absorption function deteriorates. In addition, the body will also have fever symptoms, and the body temperature is generally around 38°C, which is persistent or intermittent. Anemia is also one of the common symptoms. Patients often show paleness, dizziness, fatigue, etc., which is the result of the combined effects of long-term chronic blood loss and nutrient deficiency.
Abdominal mass: When the tumor grows to a certain extent or invades the surrounding tissues, some patients can feel a mass in the right upper abdomen. The mass is hard, not smooth, and relatively fixed in position. Generally, there is no or slight tenderness.
