Patient's Medical Journey - Poetry and Distance on the Road to Fighting Cancer
Traveling is not an escape, it is another kind of healing
We know that the sunshine and breeze outside the ward can also soothe the body and mind. Once a month, Guangzhou R&F Hospital implements a "Light Travel Plan" to organize patients and their families to temporarily put aside their illnesses, visit Guangzhou's famous attractions, and feel the gentleness and vitality of Guangzhou.
Exclusive travel, tailor-made
Selected attractions: Pearl River Night Cruise (VIP cabin to avoid peak hours), Baiyun Mountain Oxygen Bar (gentle trail + accompanying medical oxygen chamber), Chen Clan Academy Cultural Exploration (wheelchair-friendly route).
Lightweight experience: Each group is limited to 6 families, equipped with an accompanying medical team, carrying a portable first aid kit, antiemetic drugs, and antipyretic patches.
Cultural empathy: Muslim families visited Guangta Temple, Southeast Asian patients explored Qilou Old Street, and pediatric patients visited Chimelong Safari Park and Nansha Wetland Park.
Little happiness during the journey
Sterile meal packs: Sterile packaging of Cantonese-style snacks (shrimp dumplings, coconut milk cakes), which chemotherapy patients can also enjoy with peace of mind;
Preserve memories: Photographers take family photos and make a "Journey Souvenir Book" for patients;
Protection of faith: Avoid traveling during prayer times.
Safety is more important than scenery
Real-time monitoring: The smart bracelet synchronizes heart rate/blood oxygen data to the hospital emergency center;
Seamless connection: In case of emergencies, patients will be transferred back to the hospital within 1 hour, and a green emergency channel will be established with various hospitals in Guangzhou;
Family empowerment: Nurses teach “travel relaxation techniques” such as acupressure and breathing meditation.
Those moments of smiling and crying
Lung cancer in Indonesia: Auntie sang a nursery rhyme on the Pearl River cruise ship: "First time singing after chemotherapy, the wind took the pain away";
Saudi Arabian father and son touch century-old wood carvings at Chen Clan Academy: "This is a miracle more effective than painkillers";
A little girl undergoing chemotherapy happily took photos with animals at the zoo: "It said I will get better."
The disease may trap your body, but we are willing to give wings to your soul.
